Crime Alert Berks County is an organization of interested citizens, businesses, service organizations, corporations and social clubs, which formed to help our police departments in Berks County, Pennsylvania, to obtain credible leads that will result in arrests of criminals and solving crimes. This organization's inception was on August 1, 1998.
Numerous crimes have been solved and arrests have been made as a result of tips e-mailed and phoned into the tip line.

Redner's - Crime Alert Fundraiser - September 10
Redner's
Markets Inc. announced that it will hold a fundraiser at all 10 Berks stores
Sept. 10 to benefit Crime Alert Berks County.
The supermarket will contribute 5 percent of its net sales that day to Crime
Alert, said spokesman Eric White, a Crime Alert advisory board member.
"It's obviously a worthy organization to give back to, and it has done such
a fine job in the last 10 years," White said. "We feel it's an
excellent birthday present that hopefully will help them continue to put more
criminals behind bars."
Crime Alert President Barry E. Rohrbach said he was elated by the pledged
contribution.
"I don't know how much money this will be, but I assume it might be a
sizable amount," he said.
Crime Alert has paid out $42,000 in tips since July 2007, Rohrbach said.
Redner's has been
a longtime supporter of the group and has had a representative on its advisory
board since the organization was founded. But the organization's mission has
taken on an increased importance to the company and the Redner family since the
slaying of Gary W. Redner.
Redner, executive vice president, was found fatally beaten March 9 near his home
in Lower Heidelberg Township.
Redner's, the Redner family and several of its vendors have pledged
contributions totaling $90,000 that will be added to Crime Alert's maximum
reward of $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the Redner killing.
A tipster could potentially receive $100,000 if Crime Alert pays the maximum
reward.
State police Lt. Thomas G. McDaniel, criminal investigation commander for
Reading-based Troop L, said the investigation remains active.
"We continue to receive leads and keep the family abreast of development as
much as we can," he said. "This is a very active case. We continue to
be very receptive to assistance from the public and encourage them to use the
Crime Alert tip line."
